The Lee Caplin School of Journalism and Media in the College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts (CARTA) is currently seeking a dedicated and organized Student Associate to join their team of professionals In this role, the Student Associate will provide essential support services to faculty, community members, and students that work in our Immersive Studio for Altered Realty (iSTAR) facility at the Biscayne Bay campus The Student Associate will assist students seeking to use the computer lab inside the iSTAR space, welcome visitors, and answer inquiries This position offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the academic success of their peers
Duties Include:
- Greeting students and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Provide assistance and information regarding facility policies and procedures
- Maintain records of students who visit the space
- Monitor access to the computer lab and the Volumetric Capture unit inside the iSTAR
- Note and report any technical issues to other iSTAR staff members for resolution
- Assist students who wish to request to use the facilities
Federal Work Study
- Currently enrolled as a student in the College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts (CARTA)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor
- Basic knowledge of computer systems and equipment
- Reliability and punctuality
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- An interest in augmented reality, virtual reality, or multimedia production is a plus
- Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
- Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
- Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.
Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of department
