Marcum LLP is seeking a Manager to join our growing and well established national firm in South Florida. This position requires an experiencedTax Real Estate and/or Construction professional with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Specialization in real estate and/or construction and experience in preparation and review of both individual and corporate returns and flow through entity tax areas for the real estate/construction industry.
  • Applying the technical skills to perform an effective review of all types of tax returns.This means performing the necessary level of review to ensure that relevant issues have been identified and resolved, planning opportunities explored, and that returns are complete and ready for Partner review
  • Handle compliance engagements, from scheduling to managing staff.
  • Perform research and draft memoranda on real estate and construction related issues.
  • Train and supervise staff, review and evaluate their work.
  • Make suggestions to help improve efficiencies, within department and on engagements.
  • Interact closely with clients to provide innovative individual and corporate tax planning, consulting and compliance services in a timely and effective manner.
  • Supervise and help drive the success of multiple engagements in corporate and partnership taxation.
  • Ensure complete client satisfaction through open communication, managing deadlines and proactively sharing tax saving strategies.
  • Provide proper representation with taxing authorities for clients under federal or state examination.
  • Possess strong writing skills for responding to problem resolutions for tax notices.
  • Supervise, develop, train and mentor staff including performance and engagement reviews.
  • Be involved in practice development efforts of the firm.
  • Provide on the job training to subordinates.
  • Assist partners with preparation of engagement budgets
  • Participate in coaching, counseling and performing staff performance reviews.
  • Review staff work product and ensure firm processes and quality control procedures are being executed.
  • Must have outstanding work ethic, willing to roll up sleeves work attitude.
  • Attend professional development and continuing educations sessions on a regular basis.


Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications

  • Masters in Taxation is preferred
  • CPA license is required
  • 7 or more years of Public Accounting Experience with a Real Estate or Construction emphasis
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and writing skills) and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, managers and partners
  • Good judgement and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to both review engagements and manage multiple clients.
