Job Summary

The Curatorial Student Intern assists PAMM's curatorial team with research and development of current and upcoming exhibitions, publications, curatorial presentations, and general departmental functions. The Curatorial Intern works collaboratively across the department and is an integral part of the curatorial team at PAMM.This curatorial internship offers an opportunity to conduct research related to artworks and artists featured at PAMM. The intern may on occasion be asked to work collaboratively on tasks and projects for the Museum's registration and education departments.

Duties include:

  • Compiling information about artists
  • Preparing digital materials and presentations
  • Composing interpretive texts
  • Gathering support materials
  • Creating mockups of artworks
  • Various administrative tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Open to Humanities majors only (Art, Art History, English, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Modern Languages, etc.)

  • Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.
  • Excellent English composition and editing skills (formatting and standardizing).
  • Attention to detail and follow through.
  • Can work on multiple projects at a time and prioritize
  • Familiarity with checklists/exhibition descriptions and other types of Curatorial texts
  • Comfortable working at a quick pace and managing their own time and tasks
  • Flexibility and inititative with assignments.
  • Pride and initiative in one's work.
  • Computer skills and ability to learn (collection management system).
  • Academic knowledge or practical experience in performing the essential functions

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
Work Schedule
  • This is a one semester internship.
  • 10 to 12 weeks not to exceed 144 hours per semester.
  • PAMM's work week is typically M-F 9-5pm with occasional special events outside of normal business hours.
