ROLE: The Quality Engineer will support all quality, purchasing, and engineering personnel and processes as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Support and develop the quality management system as necessary.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve supply chain issues as necessary.
  • Lead or assist with internal and/or external quality audits.
  • Perform inspection on complex avionics products.
  • Some travel to perform source inspection at supplier facilities.
  • Review and approval of appropriate documentation, as necessary.
  • May be required to manage calibration system.
  • Develop Quality Inspection Plan for new and existing products.
  • Familiar with and able to apply measurement system analysis as needed.
  • May be required to process non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board.
  • Must be capable of writing and reviewing preventive and corrective actions.
  • Must be a functional expert in inspection techniques and tools, industry specifications, and company policies and procedures to develop and guide other company employees.
  • May perform document review to ensure material traceability and product compliance.
  • Create, implement and support inspection process for avionics products.
  • Ability to function as customer or FAA designee a plus
  • Work with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Performs other related duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience required
  • Experience within a FAA Production Approval Holder is a plus

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • ASQ-Certified Quality Inspector/Certified Quality Engineer/Certified Quality Auditor a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES

  • Language/Communication: English, Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
  • Computer Skills: Basic MS Office skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel),, Must be able to navigate company intranet to find industry specifications and company policies & procedures, Must be able to add documents and perform inspection / quality system transactions within the company's quality system software.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Abilities: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks. Continuous Improvement Mindset a must.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must work well within a team environment and independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position will work primarily in an office environment with low noise level.
