The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Natural Resources Specialist, Senior (Energy Resilience and Sustainability Specialist) to support Resilient Environment Department : Resilience Unit.

High Deductible Health Plan - bi-weekly premiums:

This is an advanced professional position supporting the County's resilience planning and strategic energy initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position plays an important role in supporting regional planning focused on community resilience and clean energy initiatives. This position provides technical evaluations and project management to inform policy, planning activities, and investments on a county-wide scale and works to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders resilient design, infrastructure initiatives, and sustainable practices. The successful candidate will participate in the development of a County-wide Resilience Plan that includes risk assessments, identified infrastructure improvements, and potential redevelopment strategies. Position responsibilities include planning and project management support to advance electric vehicle and renewable energy strategies. The successful candidate will also participate in the identification and pursuit of grant funding, provide contract management, prepare planning documents and proposals and provide supervision of program staff. Work requires interagency collaborations, independent research, project ownership, stakeholder engagement, and accountability. Work is reviewed through regular meetings, reports and assignments.

General Description
Performs advanced professional and supervisory environmental work administering the provisions of environmental ordinances as well as managing natural resource enhancement and protection efforts.
Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources management or closely related field.

Requires two (2) years in natural resource protection appropriate to area of assignment including one (1) year of lead work/supervisory experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E driver's license for duration of appointment. (Depending upon area of assignment.)

Preferences
1+ years of experience related to implementation of greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies or strategy development for solar, energy efficiency or electric charging infrastructure investments.
1+ years project management experience and knowledge of climate pressures within the South Florida landscape.
1+ years experience in areas of renewable energy, fleet electrification and demand side carbon emissions reduction strategy
Grant and/or contract management experience.
Excel, data management and analytical skills.
Experience in production of communication tools.

PREFERRED SKILLS: One (1) year of experience related to implementation of greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies or strategy development for solar, energy efficiency or electric charging infrastructure investments

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Must have excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and strong presentation skills. Must be highly motivated and creative; enjoy working as a team; and have superior organizational skills. The preferred candidate will be familiar with climate pressures within the South Florida landscape, demonstrated project management experience, and established knowledge in areas of renewable energy, fleet electrification and demand side carbon emissions reduction strategy. Must have experience in building relationships with public, private, and academic partners. Must excel at completing projects within assigned timeframes while planning for future objectives. Graphics, communication materials, social media application development and facilitation skills are preferred.
