Electrical Design Engineer - Power Amplifiers

Skyworks Solutions is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer responsible for the development of RF power amplifiers for wireless front end module products in a dynamic, supportive environment. The PA designs will be implemented in GaAs or SiGe HBT technologies and co-packaged with other ICs. The role will include opportunities for product leadership while interfacing with a small team of design engineers throughout the development process to ensure product specifications are successfully met. IC development activity will include linear and nonlinear simulations covering a range of power levels and operating classes. Designs will include the use of EM tools while also working closely to supervise IC layouts on the path to design review/ tape-out. The candidate should have a general understanding of product development flow in high-volume semiconductor products and be considerate about design details while understanding the importance of time to market.

Desired Experience

  • BS and 8years of experience or MSEE and 6 years of experience or PhD with 3 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of amplifier modes of operation & matching/bias design considerations.
  • RFIC/PA design/tape-out experience in Silicon CMOS/BiCMOS or GaAs HBT,
  • Experience with passive component designs including couplers/baluns, filter, and matching networks.
  • Expertise with Keysight ADS, and/or Cadence and associated simulation engines and data displays.
  • Experience with layout planning & Cadence layout tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with die level thermal design techniques and considerations
  • Experience with 2.5 (Momentum, EMX, Sonnet) & 3D (HFSS) EM simulators is a plus
  • Ability to execute project tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Solid knowledge of on chip ESD protection strategies.
  • Experience with RF testing with an ability to supervise characterization and debugging of designs using RF test equipment.
  • Familiar with the use of load pull techniques to evaluate device and PA performance.
  • Solid Oral and written communication skills.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$112,500 -$215,900 per yearper year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
