The National Director of Dental & Vision Market Solutions is responsible for formulating coordinated business strategies and operational plans to ensure the sales, growth, and profitability of UnitedHealthcare's Dental & Vision Business across all segments and markets. This individual also provides guidance to the broader organization on market & industry trends, feedback on products and pricing and represents the Dental & Vision organization as a subject matter expert in market facing and client facing meetings. The National director will lead a team focused on driving growth with our local and national market sales and account management teams. This position is the go-to for all things Dental & Vision, e.g., sales strategy, sales positioning, competitive positioning. Additionally, the national director is responsible for leading the regional MSL representatives in developing and deploying the business strategy for their assigned markets and regions. As the director, you'll identify obstacles to sales success and then work strategically and creatively to eliminate them. The ability to interface with leadership in shared service functions and other functional areas as appropriate, such as marketing, product, finance and operations are critical to our success. The position reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer, UHC Specialty Benefits and is an individual contributor with a high degree of motivating and influencing across UHC commercial sales and distribution leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop key internal and external relationships to facilitate results. Understand and create a strategy based on analysis and reporting of sales and market trends, including sales plan execution, competitive intelligence and new product requirements
  • Drive the development of market sales strategies and value proposition formulation
  • Lead as an expert in our national account space
  • Possesses expert consultative and communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent grasp of UHC Dental & Vision products as well as competitor products
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment with other UnitedHealth leaders to drive results
  • Leadership and coaching of team
  • Provides representation of the commercial Dental & Vision product in a leadership capacity
  • Are comfortable driving high stakes meetings with senior leaders
  • Interface with leadership in shared service functions and other functional areas as appropriate such as marketing, operations, product, finance & actuary
  • Manage and engage with select National specialty distribution partners
  • Coordination with other business segments including HP local markets and national accounts
  • Participate as appropriate in new sales activities and renewals Collaborate with the product organization and other functional organizations in the development and enhancement of current products, services and customer offerings
  • Assist the regional specialty leaders in achieving consistent activity disciplines to maximize new business development and ensure consistent pipeline growth

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in the Dental and Vision industry
  • Cross-functional experience in dealing with customers, products, brokers, pricing and competition
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proven ability to successfully execute in a matrix and shared services environment. Key characteristics include influencing executive leadership, maintaining solid professional networks and leveraging relationships across diverse functional teams or businesses
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, solid financial acumen with experience in measurement, data analysis and interpretation
  • Ability to travel 25% nationally for business purposes

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
