Job Description

As a highly motivated and experienced ISSE supporting the USRL at the 513 EWS, the ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of information security concepts, a deep proficiency in security engineering, and be responsible for designing and implementing security systems and procedures of 513th EWS information systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Design, develop, and implement secure systems, focusing on protection and detection strategies in compliance with security policies.

Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of JSIG/RMF security controls on all server and client systems on 513th owned ACC networks.

Configure continuous monitoring solutions (ACAS, SIEMs, and McAfee ePO), to meet security control requirements and generate useful output for auditors.

Perform Security Impact Analysis on new hardware and software to identify potential security vulnerabilities and recommend changes to the Security Baseline Configuration for change management review.

Engineer technical and security implementations of the Information System Continuity Plan for disaster recovery.

Collaborate with ISOs, ISSOs/ISSMs, and SCAs on various network security requirements and activities, providing security engineering expertise.

Develop, manage, and regularly update NIST RMF documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs) and Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA and Ms) as required by ATO submissions and Continuous Monitoring updates.

Document, Audit, and refine complex security solutions used for continuous monitoring capabilities (e.g. HBSS, ACAS, Solarwinds).

Redesign IA processes and procedures to improve security and user satisfaction.

Ensure all users adhere to Info Sys Security policies and procedures.

Perform media control by properly logging, storing, transferring, and/or destroying items as they enter/leave facilities.

Notify appropriate personnel when changes to the operating environment result in security-relevant changes.

Monitor and ensure system restoration procedures are working properly; and execute the cyber security portion of the recovery procedures, if necessary.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Bachelor degree with 8 plus years relevant experience.

Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret.

CompTIA Security+ CE certificate or equivalent IAM I certification.

3+ years of experience in Information Assurance/Information Security.

Strong understanding of security concepts and regulations (e.g. NIST, RMF, FISMA).

Experience with continuous monitoring tools (e.g. HBSS, ACAS, Solarwinds).

Expertise in managing and troubleshooting Windows Server environments, including Windows 10/11 and Windows Active Directory

Strong experience with Windows Group Policy creation, management, and deployment.

Knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and experience in their application.

Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Desired Skills:

ISC2 CISSP certification or equivalent IASAE I certification

Hands-on experience with managing and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar Linux environments.

Proven experience with virtualization technologies, particular VMware vCenter and ESXi.

Experience managing Network-attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Networks (SAN) solutions, particular those from NetApp.
